Physiotherapy in North York - Jane & Sheppard
MedRehab Group Jane Sheppard is our newest clinic, opened in early 2026 at 2526A Jane Street at Sheppard Avenue West in North York. It brings physiotherapy to the Jane and Sheppard, Downsview and Humber Summit neighbourhoods without the trip to our Finch West clinic, and it is on the 35 Jane and 84 Sheppard West bus routes.
Physiotherapy at Jane and Sheppard
This is the most physiotherapy-focused clinic in the group: nearly three quarters of visits are physiotherapy treatment, with most of the rest new assessments. Navreet Kaur and Vishrutiben Sojitra treat back and neck pain, shoulder and knee injuries, arthritis, post-operative rehabilitation, and injuries from work and car accidents. Because the clinic is new and the caseload is still building, appointments are usually available within a few days.
Every course of care starts with a one-to-one assessment and a plan you agree with your physiotherapist. Treatment combines manual therapy, a home exercise programme, education on managing the problem day to day, and electrotherapy or ultrasound where they help. Dry needling is available from physiotherapists rostered for it with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
What we treat at Jane and Sheppard
This is the most physiotherapy-focused clinic in the group. Physiotherapy treatment is 72 per cent of attended visits and assessments another 19 per cent, so almost everyone here is seeing a physiotherapist. Neck and upper back pain from desk work, driving and phone use is a constant. Neck pain affected 203 million people worldwide in 2020, peaks between 45 and 74, and is more common in women (Global Burden of Disease Study 2021). The physiotherapists also treat low back pain, shoulder and knee injuries, rehab after fractures and surgery, and injuries from car accidents and work.
Neck and desk-related pain is the pattern; the range is wider. The Jane and Sheppard physiotherapists treat:
- Neck pain, headaches and upper back stiffness
- Low back pain and sciatica
- Shoulder and rotator cuff injuries
- Elbow, wrist and hand problems
- Knee, hip, ankle and foot pain
- Arthritis and joint stiffness
- Rehab after surgery and fractures
- Sports injuries
- Injuries from car accidents and work
- Strength and balance for older adults
How treatment works
Small clinic, straightforward care. Hands-on treatment for stiff or painful joints and tissue, a home exercise programme progressed at each visit, and clear advice on posture, workstation set-up and pacing. Ultrasound, electrotherapy and heat are used where they help. Because the clinic runs evenings to 7pm Monday to Thursday, plans are built to fit around a working day rather than interrupt it. Chiropractic is available here on Dr. Mak's and Dr. Ashhadi-Somehsaraei's days, and referral to our Finch West clinic is simple if you need acupuncture or osteopathy alongside.
Your first visit
Book direct, no referral needed. The assessment is one-to-one with a registered physiotherapist: history, movement testing, a working diagnosis and a plan you agree together. Treatment usually starts the same day. Statistics Canada finds only about a quarter of men and a fifth of women over 65 reach the recommended weekly activity level, so for older patients the plan is as much about safe activity as it is about the sore spot.
Also at this clinic
Registered massage therapy with Maria Luiza Alde is available alongside physiotherapy. Chiropractic is available here too, with Dr. Derek Mak and Dr. Farah Ashhadi-Somehsaraei, who also practise at our Finch West clinic. For acupuncture or osteopathy, see our Finch Avenue West clinic, which shares your file, so a referral between the two is simple.
Hours, parking and getting here
Open Monday to Thursday 10am to 7pm and Friday 12pm to 4pm. Parking is available at the plaza. The 35 Jane bus stops at the door and the 84 Sheppard West bus connects to Sheppard West station.
Paying for physiotherapy
More than four in five visits here are billed to an insurer. The clinic bills most extended health plans directly and handles WSIB claims and works with your auto insurer for physiotherapy after a car accident. Private-pay fees are available from reception.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Jane and Sheppard clinic taking new patients?
Yes. It opened in early 2026 and assessments are usually available within a few days.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book a physiotherapy assessment directly. Some insurance plans ask for a doctor's note before reimbursing, so check yours.
Do you treat neck pain and headaches from desk work?
Yes. Neck pain and tension-type headaches from long hours at a screen are among the most common reasons people book here. Treatment combines hands-on work for the neck and upper back, strength and mobility exercises, and practical changes to your workstation and routine.
Is physiotherapy suitable for older adults?
Yes. The plan is adjusted to your fitness and any other conditions, and progresses at your pace. For older patients the focus is often strength, balance and staying active safely, which matters because fewer than a quarter of Canadians over 65 reach recommended activity levels.
Do you offer chiropractic at Jane and Sheppard?
Yes. Dr. Derek Mak and Dr. Farah Ashhadi-Somehsaraei, both Doctors of Chiropractic, see patients here as well as at our Finch West clinic. Chiropractic runs on their days, so ask when you book.
What are the hours?
Monday to Thursday 10am to 7pm and Friday 12pm to 4pm. The clinic is closed on weekends; our Finch West clinic is open Saturdays.
How do I get there by transit?
The 35 Jane bus stops at the door. The 84 Sheppard West bus connects to Sheppard West station on Line 1.
Do you offer massage therapy here?
Yes, registered massage therapy with Maria Luiza Alde, and it can be booked alongside physiotherapy.
Does the clinic direct bill insurance?
Yes, for most extended health plans, WSIB and auto insurance claims.
