Physiotherapy in Brampton - Royal West
MedRehab Group Royal West is our second Brampton physiotherapy clinic, at 305 Royal West Drive, Unit 11, just off Queen Street West on the city's western edge. It serves the Credit Valley, Fletcher's Creek and Bram West neighbourhoods and is the closer choice for anyone west of Chinguacousy Road.
Physiotherapy at Royal West
Physiotherapy accounts for nearly two thirds of visits here, with Dhreya Thakore and Mohammadrahil Shaikh carrying most of the caseload alongside Amarjot Kaur, Anureet Kaur and Ishika Ishika. It is a smaller, quieter clinic than Earlsbridge, which suits people who prefer a consistent practitioner and longer one-to-one time. The team treats back and neck pain, shoulder and knee problems, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports and gym injuries, and repetitive-strain problems from desk and warehouse work.
Every course of treatment starts with an assessment: history, movement and strength testing, and a plan with a realistic timeline. Treatment combines manual therapy, a home exercise programme that is progressed at each visit, and education on managing the problem between appointments, with electrotherapy or ultrasound where the physiotherapist judges they will help. Dry needling is available from physiotherapists rostered for it.
What we treat at Royal West
Physiotherapy is the core of this clinic. Treatment sessions are 63 per cent of attended visits and new assessments another 15 per cent, so a large share of the people walking in are new to physiotherapy or new to this problem. Common reasons: low back pain, neck and shoulder pain from desk and driving jobs, knee pain, tendon problems, recovery after fractures and surgery, and pain that has been hanging around for months. That last group matters. Health Canada's Canadian Pain Task Force puts chronic pain at 7.6 million Canadians, one in five, and most of them were never given a structured plan to manage it.
Long-standing pain is one strand. The Royal West physiotherapists treat the whole range:
- Back pain, sciatica and neck pain
- Shoulder and rotator cuff problems
- Knee, hip and ankle injuries
- Arthritis and joint stiffness
- Rehab after surgery, fractures and joint replacement
- Sports and running injuries
- Tendon and overuse problems
- Car accident and workplace injuries
- Persistent pain that has lasted months or years
- Posture-related pain from desk and driving jobs
How treatment works
You get a diagnosis first, then a plan built around it. Hands-on treatment for stiff joints and tight tissue, a home exercise programme that is progressed at each visit, and clear advice on what to do between sessions. Ultrasound, electrotherapy and heat are used when they help you move sooner. For long-standing pain the emphasis shifts to graded activity, sleep and pacing, because those are what change the picture. Fewer than half of Canadian adults reach the 150 minutes of weekly activity Statistics Canada measures, and a good plan gets you moving safely again rather than resting indefinitely.
Your first visit
Book direct; no referral is needed in Ontario. Wear something you can move in and bring any imaging reports or insurer forms. The assessment is one-to-one with a registered physiotherapist: history, movement testing, a working diagnosis and a plan you agree together. Treatment usually starts in the same session. The physiotherapist will tell you roughly how many visits to expect and what would make them reconsider the plan.
Also at this clinic
Registered massage therapy with Kulvir Rana and Michael Aguilera is the second most-booked service and is often paired with physiotherapy for neck, shoulder and low-back pain. The clinic also takes chiropractic bookings. If you need a service Royal West does not offer, our Earlsbridge clinic in northwest Brampton has the full range.
Hours, parking and getting here
Open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11am to 7pm, Wednesday 10am to 7pm, Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Free parking in the plaza. Brampton Transit's Queen Street routes, including the Züm 501, stop at Chinguacousy Road, a short walk away.
Paying for physiotherapy
Royal West sees more privately paying patients than any other MedRehab Group clinic, so fees are straightforward and quoted up front. The clinic also bills most extended health plans directly and handles WSIB claims and works with your auto insurer for physiotherapy after a car accident.
We work hard to help you feel better and heal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Brampton clinic should I choose, Royal West or Earlsbridge?
Whichever is closer. Royal West is off Queen Street West on the west side of the city; the Earlsbridge clinic is at Chinguacousy and Earlsbridge in the northwest. Both offer physiotherapy and massage; Earlsbridge has more practitioners and Sunday hours.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book a physiotherapy assessment directly. Check your extended health plan in case it requires a doctor's note for reimbursement.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem and how long you have had it. A recent sprain might need three or four visits; a post-surgical knee or a long-standing back problem needs more. The physiotherapist gives you an estimate at the first visit and reviews it against your progress rather than booking an open-ended block.
Can physiotherapy help if I have had pain for years?
Often, yes. Long-standing pain is common, one in five Canadians according to the Canadian Pain Task Force, and it responds to a plan built around graded movement, strength and pacing rather than rest. The first visit is about finding out what is driving your pain now, not just what started it.
Is there parking at Royal West?
Yes, free parking in the plaza at 305 Royal West Drive.
What does a first visit involve?
A one-to-one assessment with a registered physiotherapist lasting about 45 minutes: your history, movement and strength testing, an explanation of what is going on, and the first steps of treatment.
Does the clinic direct bill insurance?
Yes, for most extended health plans, WSIB claims and auto insurance after a collision. Private-pay fees are quoted before you book.
Is the clinic open on Saturdays?
Yes, Saturday 9am to 2pm. Weekday evenings run to 7pm Monday to Thursday.
