Physiotherapy Pickering
MedRehab Group Pickering is a physiotherapy clinic at 1105 Kingston Road, Unit 11, at Liverpool Road, a few minutes from Pickering Town Centre and the GO station. It is our largest clinic in Durham Region, with registered physiotherapists, seven registered massage therapists, three acupuncturists and a chiropractor, and it is open until 8pm four nights a week.
Physiotherapy at the Kingston Road clinic
Physiotherapy treatment and assessments make up close to half of visits, and Pickering is where more patients than anywhere else in the group choose dedicated one-to-one sessions, which are almost a quarter of all appointments. Those are longer, single-practitioner visits with more hands-on time, and they suit post-operative rehab, complex or long-standing problems, and people who simply want the full session with their own physiotherapist.
The physiotherapy team, Dhariniben Vaghela, Rhoda Pineda, Rochelle Nicdao and Teena John, treats back and neck pain, shoulder, hip and knee injuries, ankle sprains, recovery after fractures and surgery, sports injuries, and pain following car accidents and work injuries. Treatment is built from the assessment: manual therapy, a progressive exercise programme, education on managing the problem, and electrotherapy, ultrasound or heat and ice where they add something. Dry needling is available from physiotherapists rostered for it with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
What we treat at Kingston Road
This clinic sees more car accident patients than most in the group, which fits a catchment built around Highway 401 and Kingston Road. Ontario recorded 26,748 personal injury collisions in 2022 (Ontario Road Safety Annual Report), and neck pain after a rear-end collision is the injury we see most from them. It should not be left to settle on its own: around half of people with whiplash still have neck pain a year later, and most of the recovery that happens takes place in the first three months. The physiotherapists also treat low back pain, shoulder and knee injuries, post-surgical rehab, sports injuries and work injuries.
Collisions are a big part of the week here, but far from all of it. Kingston Road physiotherapists treat:
- Whiplash and neck pain
- Low back pain and sciatica
- Shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries
- Knee, hip, ankle and foot problems
- Sports injuries at every level
- Rehab after surgery and fractures
- Arthritis and stiffness
- Workplace injuries and repetitive strain
- Tendon problems and heel pain
- Headaches and dizziness with a neck component
How treatment works
Pickering books more dedicated one-to-one sessions than any other MedRehab Group clinic, nearly one visit in four, so longer hands-on time is easy to arrange. Treatment combines manual therapy, a progressive exercise programme and education on pacing and posture. Laser therapy, ultrasound and electrotherapy are used where they help; custom orthotics are made on site for foot and lower-limb mechanics. For whiplash the plan leans on early, gentle movement and graded strength work, which the evidence supports over collars and rest.
Your first visit
The first appointment is a full assessment with a registered physiotherapist: history, movement and strength testing, a working diagnosis and a plan. If a car accident is involved, bring your claim number and the clinic completes the treatment plan paperwork with your insurer. Most people start treatment at the same visit and leave with one or two exercises to begin that day.
Also at this clinic
Pickering has the group's deepest bench for complementary care. Registered massage therapy is the second most-booked service, with seven RMTs including Dong Jiao, Jacksy Robert, Jocelyn Cabotaje, Stefan Sultan Khan and Ting (Sharon) Huang. Registered acupuncture with Olivia Ye, Nancy Chen and Jake Chen is busier here than at any other clinic. Chiropractic care is provided by Dr. Steve Cho, DC. Your physiotherapist can add any of these to your plan without a separate assessment.
Hours, parking and getting here
Open Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm, Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, among the longest hours in the group. Free parking in the plaza. Durham Region Transit's Kingston Road routes stop outside, and Pickering GO is a short drive or bus ride west.
Paying for physiotherapy
Two thirds of visits are billed to an insurer. The clinic bills most extended health plans directly and handles WSIB claims and works with your auto insurer for physiotherapy after a car accident, including the paperwork. Private-pay fees are available from reception.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist in Pickering?
No. Physiotherapists are primary-care practitioners in Ontario and you can book directly. Some extended health plans want a doctor's note before reimbursing, so check yours.
What is a one-to-one physiotherapy session?
A longer appointment with a single physiotherapist and no overlap with other patients, with more hands-on treatment in the session. About a quarter of Pickering's appointments are booked this way. Reception can tell you the fee and length.
What is the difference between a standard visit and a one-to-one session?
A standard visit combines hands-on treatment with supervised exercise and, where useful, modalities such as laser or ultrasound. A one-to-one session gives you the physiotherapist's undivided time for the whole appointment, which suits complex problems, post-surgical rehab and people who prefer longer manual therapy. Ask at booking which is right for you.
How soon after a car accident should I see a physiotherapist?
As soon as you have been checked by a doctor and cleared of anything serious, usually within the first week. Most recovery from whiplash happens in the first three months, and early movement does better than rest. Treatment is covered under Ontario's accident benefits and we handle the forms.
How late is the Pickering clinic open?
Until 8pm Monday to Thursday, 6pm on Friday, and 2pm on Saturday. Doors open at 8am on weekdays.
Do you treat car accident injuries?
Yes. Physiotherapy after a collision is covered under Ontario's accident benefits. We complete the treatment plan paperwork with your insurer. See the car accident physiotherapy page for how it works.
Can I have acupuncture or massage alongside physiotherapy?
Yes. Three registered acupuncturists and seven registered massage therapists work at the clinic, and your physiotherapist can add either to your plan.
Where do I park?
Free parking in the plaza at 1105 Kingston Road. The clinic is Unit 11.
What Would Your Day Feel Like If You Weren't In Pain?
If you weren’t in pain, you would be able to do the things you want to do, like play with your grandchildren, or take that walk around the park with your dog, or perhaps participate in that athletic event with your co-workers. Stop letting pain control your life. Request an appointment and start your road to recovery!
