I had an amazing experience with Mildred. She is skilled, professional and really takes time to understand where you're experiencing tension and discomfort. Her technique is excellent- She kno exactly how much pressure to use and focuses on areas that needs that most attention. Highly recommended 💯💕❤️

I had a very positive experience at MedRehab Group on Finch Avenue. Sophie on the reception was professional, welcoming, and efficient, which made the check-in process smooth and comfortable from the start. My physiotherapist conducted a thorough assessment, clearly explained the findings, and developed an effective treatment plan tailored to my needs. I noticed steady improvement within just a few sessions. The clinic is clean, well-organized, and appointments consistently ran on time. I would highly recommend MedRehab Finch to anyone seeking quality physiotherapy and rehabilitation services in North York.

About the clinic

MedRehab Group North York

MedRehab Group North York is a physiotherapy clinic at 1275 Finch Avenue West, Suite 206, between Keele Street and Jane Street, a short walk from Finch West station on the Line 6 LRT and the 36 Finch West bus. It serves Downsview, York University Heights and the Jane and Finch neighbourhood, and it is the group's busiest Saturday clinic: one visit in five here happens on a Saturday.

Physiotherapy at the Finch West clinic

Physiotherapy is over half of everything booked. The team, Ayushi Chauhan, Dhariniben Vaghela, El Ana Rhoda Capistrano, Gopi Balar and Maria Abd Allha, treats back and neck pain, shoulder and knee injuries, arthritis, recovery after surgery, sports injuries, and pain after car accidents and workplace injuries. Many patients come from physical jobs in the industrial areas along Finch and Keele, so return-to-work planning is a regular part of treatment.

Your first visit is an assessment with a registered physiotherapist: history, movement and strength testing, and a plan in plain language. Treatment usually combines manual therapy, a home exercise programme progressed at each visit, education, and electrotherapy or ultrasound where useful. Dry needling is available from physiotherapists rostered for it.

What we treat at Finch West

Work injuries are a defining part of this clinic. Musculoskeletal injuries, mostly sprains and strains, make up about a third of all allowed lost-time claims in Ontario every year, and low back injury is the single most frequent cause of lost work time in the province. That is what walks in from the warehouses, plants and trades around Keele and Finch. The physiotherapists treat those alongside neck and shoulder pain, knee and hip problems, rehab after surgery, sports injuries and pain after car accidents. Low back pain is the biggest single reason people come, which mirrors the world: it affected 619 million people in 2020 and remains the largest cause of disability anywhere (Global Burden of Disease Study 2021).

Work injuries dominate the numbers, but the door is open to everything else. Finch West physiotherapists treat:

  • Low back injuries, sciatica and disc problems
  • Neck pain and headaches
  • Shoulder, elbow and hand injuries
  • Knee and hip pain, including arthritis
  • Ankle and foot problems
  • Sports and gym injuries
  • Rehab after surgery, fractures and joint replacement
  • Car accident injuries
  • Repetitive strain from standing and lifting jobs
  • Balance and mobility in older adults

How treatment works

Treatment is built around getting you back to what you do, whether that is a lifting job or a long commute. Hands-on manual therapy, a strength and mobility programme progressed each visit, and practical advice on lifting, pacing and workstation set-up. Ultrasound, electrotherapy and heat are added where they help. Custom orthotics and compression stockings are fitted on site. For WSIB claims the plan follows the Musculoskeletal Program of Care and the clinic handles the reporting.

Your first visit

New assessments are about one visit in seven here, so the process is quick and clear. A registered physiotherapist takes your history, watches how you move, tests the painful area and gives you a working diagnosis in plain language. If work is involved, bring your claim number and your employer's contact so the return-to-work plan can start on day one. No referral is needed to book.

Also at this clinic

North York offers more disciplines under one roof than most of our clinics. Chiropractic care with Dr. Derek Mak, DC and Dr. Farah Ashhadi-Somehsaraei, DC is the third most-booked service. Registered massage therapy is provided by Dong Li, Epifania Mildred Millora, Jackilyn Pulido and Li Su, who is also a registered acupuncturist. Osteopathic manual practice with Pedram Dadollahi rounds out the team. Your physiotherapist can bring any of them into your plan.

Hours, parking and getting here

Open Monday 11am to 7pm, Tuesday to Thursday 10am to 7pm, Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Free parking at the building. By transit, Finch West station (Line 1 and Line 6) and the 36 Finch West bus both stop within a few minutes' walk.

Paying for physiotherapy

Close to three quarters of visits are billed to an insurer. The clinic bills most extended health plans directly and handles WSIB claims and works with your auto insurer for physiotherapy after a car accident. Private-pay fees are available from reception.

Questions

Before your first visit

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book pelvic floor physiotherapy directly. Some insurance plans ask for a referral before they reimburse you, so check your plan if you are unsure.

Is it covered by insurance?

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is physiotherapy, so most extended health plans cover it, and we can bill most insurers directly.

Do I have to have an internal exam?

No. It is optional and only done with your consent. Your physiotherapist can assess and treat you without one if you prefer.

Can I come during pregnancy or soon after giving birth?

Yes. We see people during pregnancy and after delivery, and your physiotherapist will advise on timing and what is right for you.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what is going on. After your assessment, your physiotherapist will explain your plan and how often to come in.
