Acupuncture in Woodbridge
Wednesday is acupuncture day on Weston Road. Andrzej Sedlak, our registered acupuncturist, treats at 8333 Weston Road, Suite B05, between Highway 7 and Langstaff, and his Wednesday list is the fullest acupuncture day anywhere in the group: one visit in twenty at this clinic is acupuncture, and nearly all of them happen on that one day. Book early in the week for the week after, and you will usually get the time you want.

A full day, every week
Having a dedicated day has advantages. Andrzej sees the same people at the same time each week, which is how a course of acupuncture works best, and because the clinic also has physiotherapists, two chiropractors, four Registered Massage Therapists and an osteopath under the same roof, a Wednesday appointment can sit between other treatment without a second trip. Woodbridge and southern Vaughan have used this clinic since the 1990s, and a good share of the acupuncture patients are people who have been coming here for other things for years.
What it is used for
Andrzej works within traditional Chinese medicine, so what he treats is broad:
- Persistent low back, neck and shoulder pain, including sciatica and old disc problems
- Headache and migraine prevention
- Knee and hip osteoarthritis, and hands that ache in the cold
- Tendon and overuse problems: elbow, shoulder, Achilles, plantar fasciitis
- Stress, anxiety and insomnia
- Digestive complaints, nausea and reflux
- Menstrual pain, menopause symptoms and support during fertility treatment
- Hay fever, sinusitis and post-viral fatigue
- Pain after a car accident under auto insurance accident benefits, and workplace injuries under the WSIB program of care
Not everything on that list is equally well proven. Chronic pain, headaches and knee arthritis have good evidence behind acupuncture; nausea and some sleep and stress complaints have fair evidence; the rest is less certain, and you will be told so plainly before you start.
How a session goes
First visit, about an hour: history, examination, treatment. Follow-ups, about 30 to 45 minutes. Needles are sterile, single-use and hair-thin; a small number are placed and left for 20 to 30 minutes while you rest. Cupping or electro-acupuncture is added when the problem calls for it. Expect a dull ache or warmth at the points rather than sharp pain. A typical course is six to eight weekly sessions, and Andrzej reviews progress with you around the halfway point; if it is not helping, he will say so and suggest what might.
Coverage
Most workplace benefit plans cover acupuncture by a registered acupuncturist, and we bill the insurer directly where the plan allows it. OHIP does not cover acupuncture. On an approved accident benefits or WSIB claim it is covered as part of your treatment plan.
Questions we hear in Woodbridge
What are your hours? Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am to 7pm, Tuesday 9am to 8pm, Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm. Acupuncture is on Wednesdays.
Can I get a Wednesday evening slot? They go first. If you need after-work times, book two or three weeks of appointments at once.
Can I have acupuncture and physiotherapy in the same plan? Yes, and it is common here. Separate appointments, shared notes, and most plans cover each under its own category.
Does it hurt? Rarely. If anything feels sharp, say so and the needle is adjusted.
Do I need a referral? No. A few insurers ask for a doctor’s note before reimbursing; check your plan.
