Amazing staff; they are super friendly and genuinely care about you and your progress. They even recognized/remembered me from when I first went there just about 3 years ago now for another concern I had at that time. They are absolute rockstars at this location. I highly recommend the pickering location for your physic needs!

I have found that all of the Physio staff that have treated me at MedRehab are knowledgeable and helpful and professional. Rhoda has helped me so much to alleviate pain and I would not hesitate to refer friends and family. In fact I have already referred a number of people to this clinic. The Ladies at the front counter reception area are friendly and welcoming. Any appointments made are on time as per the schedule.

I've had the most amazing experience with MedRehab Pickering! From the moment I called in to request an appointment to the day I completed my treatment, I've always been met with so much kindness and great customer service from Catherine and the ladies at the front desk! My physiotherapist, Rhoda, was incredible - she was kind, friendly, so knowledgeable, and the exercises, stretches, and treatment she provided me with helped me recover quickly and just in time to go back to school!

Many thanks to MedRehab Pickering! I have improved so much in overall muscle strength and body posture, in a relatively short period of time. I just started sessions working with a great physiotherapist Dharini. She is very knowledgeable, and has patience in showing me the correct way to do the exercises, to be able to have continued results, and long lasting impact on wellness. All the staff that I met at MedRehab Group, including Teena and Rhoda in Pickering are amazing!

Walked into MedRehab Pickering, with hip pain , walking was painful and at a 9. In physiotherapist Teena's capable hands with just 4 sessions, I can walk without pain or a limp. Highly recommend Teena she's awesome and this clinic.

I was struggling with my ankles and it was really affecting my daily activities. Tina was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the entire process. She carefully assessed the issue, explained everything clearly, and created a treatment plan that truly worked. Rachelle is also a great physiotherapist and Steve is an excellent chiropractor — both very professional and supportive. I’m very satisfied with the care.

My experience with Dr. Teena so far has been wonderful. She has helped me recover from postpartum back pain through physiotherapy treatments and exercise, and also helped me discover which part of my body needed more strength training. I'm grateful for her attentiveness.

So happy I found MedRehab through Google and liked their positive reviews. Pleased to share my experience for treatment of severe plantar fasciitis. Reception girls were always bubbly and pleasant to deal with. Rhoda my RT treated my sore feet and after just a few sessions I have great improvement in my pain when walking. Stop looking, don't delay, just call and get treated at MedRehab. No more walking on Lego!

I have been dealing with pain from a hip injury and planter fasciitis for a few years and tried many different methods of using exercise to heal but the pain was not subsiding. I got an appointment with Teena at Medrehab in Pickering and told her I wanted treatment for my pain first before I started exercises to strengthen the areas. Teena listened to me and developed a plan that included physio, stretching and shockwave therapy to help reduce the pain. My mobility has improved and my pain levels are way down in just a few weeks. The receptionists are extremely helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend Teena and the team at Medrehab in Pickering.

This year, I had struggled to find a massage that truly worked for me. Although my initial session here fell short, the admin team followed up promptly, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring a positive customer experience. They recommended a therapist who proved to be an excellent fit, and the subsequent appointment was the best I’ve had all year.

I've used Med Rehab for both massage therapy, and most recently physio therapy. My experience in physiotherapy with Teena has been incredible. Sitting at a desk for the last 25 years for work has earned me constant neck and back pain. I always just assumed it was something I had to live with. I do not have to live with it. and neither do you. Use your benefits, and make your life more comfortable. Can't say enough about my experience. and Teena specifically. Incredible.

Acupuncture in Pickering

Welcome to Kingston Road. Olivia Ye, Nancy Chen and Jake Chen make up the largest acupuncture team in the group, at our Pickering clinic, 1105 Kingston Road, Unit 11, near Liverpool Road and a short drive from Pickering GO. Nancy and Jake are also Registered Massage Therapists, so a session here can combine the two where muscle tension and a wider pain picture overlap. Whether our physiotherapist sent you down the hall or you came for acupuncture in its own right, you are in the right place.

What we treat with acupuncture in Pickering

This clinic runs 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday and treats more collision injuries than most in the group, and both of those feed acupuncture. Whiplash and back strain that have settled into persistent tension respond well to it once the early physiotherapy has done its work. Commuters from Ajax, Bay Ridges and Liverpool book it before or after the GO train for neck pain and tension headaches. And with three practitioners, an appointment is usually available within days.

  • Chronic low back and neck pain that no longer responds to hands-on work alone
  • Tension headaches and migraine, as prevention rather than rescue
  • Knee, hip and shoulder pain, including osteoarthritis
  • Muscle tension and trigger points, often treated with massage by the same practitioner
  • Recovery after a car accident, as part of a treatment plan with our physiotherapists
  • Stress, poor sleep and fatigue alongside a pain problem

Pain is the door most people come through, but traditional Chinese medicine is a whole system, and Olivia, Nancy and Jake see the full breadth of it. In a typical week that includes:

  • Sleep problems, anxiety and the physical side of stress
  • Bloating, reflux, sluggish or irritable digestion
  • Period pain, irregular cycles, menopause symptoms and support alongside fertility treatment
  • Nausea and discomfort in pregnancy, with points chosen for the stage you are at
  • Hay fever, blocked sinuses and colds that keep coming back
  • Low energy and fatigue
  • Jaw tension, clenching and TMJ pain
  • Tingling and numbness, after serious causes have been excluded
  • Getting back on your feet after illness or surgery

You will get a straight answer about where the evidence is strong and where it is thin, and a course that stops when it has done its job.

Acupuncture with massage, from one practitioner

Because Nancy and Jake are registered in both, a course can move between acupuncture and massage without a second practitioner or a second intake. That suits the tight, tender muscle problem behind a lot of neck and shoulder pain. The two are billed as separate services, and most extended health plans cover each under its own category. Tell the front desk what you are coming for and they will match you to the right practitioner.

What acupuncture will and will not do

It reduces pain and muscle tension for many people, usually modestly per session and building over a short course. It will not repair a torn ligament, unlock a stiff joint or replace the strengthening that fixes a weak one. If the assessment shows the problem is structural, you are referred to the physiotherapist or the chiropractor in the same clinic.

Your first appointment

Forty-five minutes to an hour. Your acupuncturist takes a full history, including sleep, digestion and stress, examines the area and explains what they propose. Fine, sterile, single-use needles are placed and left in for twenty to thirty minutes while you rest; you can ask for fewer or a gentler approach at any time. Wear loose clothing that rolls above the knee and elbow, and do not arrive on an empty stomach.

Coverage

Most extended health plans cover acupuncture from a registered acupuncturist, usually to an annual limit; all three practitioners are registered with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario. We bill most major insurers directly. Acupuncture from a registered practitioner is exempt from HST and is not covered by OHIP. After a collision it can be funded through your auto insurance accident benefits when it is part of an approved treatment plan.

Questions we hear in Pickering

What are your hours? Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm, Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm, closed Sunday. Each acupuncturist keeps their own days; ask when you book.

Can I book acupuncture before work? Yes. The 8am opening Monday to Thursday exists for exactly that, and Pickering GO is a few minutes away.

Does it hurt? Rarely. Expect a brief prick, then a dull ache, heaviness or warmth at the point. Say so if anything feels sharp.

How many sessions? Typically four to eight, once or twice a week, then reassessment. Chronic problems take longer.

Are the needles safe? Sterile, single-use and disposed of after each session, as the College requires.

Where do I park? Free parking at the plaza on Kingston Road. Durham Region Transit’s Kingston Road routes stop outside.
