We called and they fit my son in same day. He felt comfortable and in good hands. They called the following day to check in and were very genuine on their call. We’ve made further appointments and would recommend for sure.

I had a message and got greedy and treated myself to chiropractic treatment. I walked out a new man. I have been suffering with my lower back for sometime now. I got brave a scheduled an appointment. My therapist did a full exam of my body then explained what treatment was required. I’m not going to say I was terrified of the unknown. I have to say I was talked through every step. I truly have to say I feel like a new man. Would not hesitate to recommend Med Rehab. 100%. I have to shout out to the girls on the front desk, they welcome you in from the moment you step into the building. Extremely friendly. What a TEAM.

Both my PT and MT are really good\. When I first went for a PT appointment, I had been in pain for more than a week\. After my first visit, I already felt significant relief from the pain\. With my MT, I always feel so much better after each session\. There was also a time when I was experiencing a little bit of pain, but it was gone after my session with her\. The receptionists are also very nice and are always quick to respond to my text messages and phone calls\. Overall, I’m very happy with the service and care I receive.

Amazing staff; they are super friendly and genuinely care about you and your progress. They even recognized/remembered me from when I first went there just about 3 years ago now for another concern I had at that time. They are absolute rockstars at this location. I highly recommend the pickering location for your physio needs!

I have found that all of the Physio staff that have treated me at MedRehab are knowledgeable and helpful and professional. Rhoda has helped me so much to alleviate pain and I would not hesitate to refer friends and family. In fact I have already referred a number of people to this clinic. The Ladies at the front counter reception area are friendly and welcoming. Any appointments made are on time as per the schedule.

I've had the most amazing experience with MedRehab Pickering! From the moment I called in to request an appointment to the day I completed my treatment, I've always been met with so much kindness and great customer service from Catherine and the ladies at the front desk! My physiotherapist, Rhoda, was incredible - she was kind, friendly, so knowledgeable, and the exercises, stretches, and treatment she provided me with helped me recover quickly and just in time to go back to school!

Many thanks to MedRehab Pickering! I have improved so much in overall muscle strength and body posture, in a relatively short period of time. I just started sessions working with a great physiotherapist Dharini. She is very knowledgeable, and has patience in showing me the correct way to do the exercises, to be able to have continued results, and long lasting impact on wellness. All the staff that I met at MedRehab Group, including Teena and Rhoda in Pickering are amazing!

Walked into MedRehab Pickering, with hip pain , walking was painful and at a 9. In physiotherapist Teena's capable hands with just 4 sessions, I can walk without pain or a limp. Highly recommend Teena she's awesome and this clinic.

I was struggling with my ankles and it was really affecting my daily activities. Tina was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the entire process. She carefully assessed the issue, explained everything clearly, and created a treatment plan that truly worked. Rachelle is also a great physiotherapist and Steve is an excellent chiropractor — both very professional and supportive. I’m very satisfied with the care.

My experience with Dr. Teena so far has been wonderful. She has helped me recover from postpartum back pain through physiotherapy treatments and exercise, and also helped me discover which part of my body needed more strength training. I'm grateful for her attentiveness.

So happy I found MedRehab through Google and liked their positive reviews. Pleased to share my experience for treatment of severe plantar fasciitis. Reception girls were always bubbly and pleasant to deal with. Rhoda my RT treated my sore feet and after just a few sessions I have great improvement in my pain when walking. Stop looking, don't delay, just call and get treated at MedRehab. No more walking on Lego!

About the clinic

MedRehab Group Pickering

MedRehab Group Pickering is a physiotherapy clinic at 1105 Kingston Road, Unit 11, at Liverpool Road, a few minutes from Pickering Town Centre and the GO station. It is our largest clinic in Durham Region, with registered physiotherapists, seven registered massage therapists, three acupuncturists and a chiropractor, and it is open until 8pm four nights a week.

Physiotherapy at the Kingston Road clinic

Physiotherapy treatment and assessments make up close to half of visits, and Pickering is where more patients than anywhere else in the group choose dedicated one-to-one sessions, which are almost a quarter of all appointments. Those are longer, single-practitioner visits with more hands-on time, and they suit post-operative rehab, complex or long-standing problems, and people who simply want the full session with their own physiotherapist.

The physiotherapy team, Dhariniben Vaghela, Rhoda Pineda, Rochelle Nicdao and Teena John, treats back and neck pain, shoulder, hip and knee injuries, ankle sprains, recovery after fractures and surgery, sports injuries, and pain following car accidents and work injuries. Treatment is built from the assessment: manual therapy, a progressive exercise programme, education on managing the problem, and electrotherapy, ultrasound or heat and ice where they add something. Dry needling is available from physiotherapists rostered for it with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.

What we treat at Kingston Road

This clinic sees more car accident patients than most in the group, which fits a catchment built around Highway 401 and Kingston Road. Ontario recorded 26,748 personal injury collisions in 2022 (Ontario Road Safety Annual Report), and neck pain after a rear-end collision is the injury we see most from them. It should not be left to settle on its own: around half of people with whiplash still have neck pain a year later, and most of the recovery that happens takes place in the first three months. The physiotherapists also treat low back pain, shoulder and knee injuries, post-surgical rehab, sports injuries and work injuries.

Collisions are a big part of the week here, but far from all of it. Kingston Road physiotherapists treat:

  • Whiplash and neck pain
  • Low back pain and sciatica
  • Shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries
  • Knee, hip, ankle and foot problems
  • Sports injuries at every level
  • Rehab after surgery and fractures
  • Arthritis and stiffness
  • Workplace injuries and repetitive strain
  • Tendon problems and heel pain
  • Headaches and dizziness with a neck component

How treatment works

Pickering books more dedicated one-to-one sessions than any other MedRehab Group clinic, nearly one visit in four, so longer hands-on time is easy to arrange. Treatment combines manual therapy, a progressive exercise programme and education on pacing and posture. Laser therapy, ultrasound and electrotherapy are used where they help; custom orthotics are made on site for foot and lower-limb mechanics. For whiplash the plan leans on early, gentle movement and graded strength work, which the evidence supports over collars and rest.

Your first visit

The first appointment is a full assessment with a registered physiotherapist: history, movement and strength testing, a working diagnosis and a plan. If a car accident is involved, bring your claim number and the clinic completes the treatment plan paperwork with your insurer. Most people start treatment at the same visit and leave with one or two exercises to begin that day.

Also at this clinic

Pickering has the group's deepest bench for complementary care. Registered massage therapy is the second most-booked service, with seven RMTs including Dong Jiao, Jacksy Robert, Jocelyn Cabotaje, Stefan Sultan Khan and Ting (Sharon) Huang. Registered acupuncture with Olivia Ye, Nancy Chen and Jake Chen is busier here than at any other clinic. Chiropractic care is provided by Dr. Steve Cho, DC. Your physiotherapist can add any of these to your plan without a separate assessment.

Hours, parking and getting here

Open Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm, Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, among the longest hours in the group. Free parking in the plaza. Durham Region Transit's Kingston Road routes stop outside, and Pickering GO is a short drive or bus ride west.

Paying for physiotherapy

Two thirds of visits are billed to an insurer. The clinic bills most extended health plans directly and handles WSIB claims and works with your auto insurer for physiotherapy after a car accident, including the paperwork. Private-pay fees are available from reception.

Questions

Before your first visit

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book pelvic floor physiotherapy directly. Some insurance plans ask for a referral before they reimburse you, so check your plan if you are unsure.

Is it covered by insurance?

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is physiotherapy, so most extended health plans cover it, and we can bill most insurers directly.

Do I have to have an internal exam?

No. It is optional and only done with your consent. Your physiotherapist can assess and treat you without one if you prefer.

Can I come during pregnancy or soon after giving birth?

Yes. We see people during pregnancy and after delivery, and your physiotherapist will advise on timing and what is right for you.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what is going on. After your assessment, your physiotherapist will explain your plan and how often to come in.
