Welcome to Weston Road. Our Woodbridge clinic is at 8333 Weston Road, Suite B05, on the east side just north of Langstaff, and it is one of the busiest rehabilitation clinics we run. Two Doctors of Chiropractic practise here, Dr. Annamaria De Fina and Dr. Alvin De Leon, which means most days of the week are covered and you can choose who you see. They work in the same rooms and from the same notes as our physiotherapists, four massage therapists, an acupuncturist and an osteopath.

We are open until 7pm most weeknights, 8pm on Tuesdays and Saturday mornings, and there is free parking at the building.

Woodbridge’s spine problems

Weekends here are soccer, hockey and the gym, and Monday brings the results: backs that went in a tackle, necks jarred in a check, hips and shoulders that did not like a new training block. Sports-related joint problems are a bigger part of the caseload at this clinic than at most. Three ways to treat a stiff spine, in one building

Woodbridge has a chiropractor, an osteopath and physiotherapists under one roof, and the question of who to see comes up daily. A locked or painful spinal joint suits chiropractic. Diffuse stiffness across several regions, or a preference for slow, gentle, whole-body treatment, suits osteopathy. Weakness, instability, a sports injury with a return-to-play goal or recovery after surgery suits physiotherapy. If you are not sure, book any of them. All three assess first and refer within the clinic, so starting with the wrong one costs you a conversation, not a course of treatment.

What a chiropractic visit involves

Assessment, then a plan. Treatment draws on joint manipulation, mobilisation, soft tissue work and exercise, chosen after your chiropractor has examined you and agreed with you. You stay clothed, and you can decline any technique. The first visit runs forty-five minutes to an hour: history, what you want to get back to, how your spine and the joints around it move, strength and nerve tests where relevant, and screening for anything that needs a doctor first. Treatment usually starts the same day and you leave with something to do at home.

Coverage and billing

Chiropractic is not covered by OHIP but is one of the most commonly covered services on extended health plans, usually to an annual limit. We bill most major insurers directly and there is no HST. After a car accident it can be funded through your auto insurance accident benefits when it is part of an approved treatment plan; after a workplace injury it can be part of a WSIB program of care for an allowed claim. What are your hours? Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am to 7pm, Tuesday 9am to 8pm, Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm.

Which chiropractor should I choose? Either. Request one by name and stay with them through a course of treatment where you can, so nobody has to rediscover your history. Dr. De Leon also practises at our Richmond Hill clinic.

I play in a league. Can you get me back quickly? We can get you back safely. Chiropractic frees the joint; physiotherapy in the same clinic manages the return to play so you come back once rather than twice.

Do I need a referral? No. Check whether your insurer wants a doctor’s note.

Is there an X-ray first? Rarely. Most back and neck pain shows nothing useful on X-ray; imaging is requested only when it would change the plan.
